What is BBC Films?
BBC Films is the film production arm of the BBC, it sees itself as being in the forefront of British Independent Films and it helps to produce around 15 films EACH year. BBC Films has helped to produce a lot of popular films that invoke thought from the viewers about our society. Some of these films include:
- The Buy In Striped Pyjamas 
- I Daniel Blake 
- Blue Story

Each one of these films have their own meaning behind it which fits into the BBC's vision and goals when it comes to creating educational films for the viewers.

Some Information about BBC Films
  • Founded: On the 18th of October in London
  • It was founded by John Reith but also by the British Government 
  • BBC Films as being apart of the BBC Branch is therefore currently owned by the government as it is not a commercial film production studio.
How does BBC Films get funded then?
You might be thinking if BBC Films is not a commercial film production studio then this section is for you. BBC Films is funded from the money that gained from the annual TV license that is paid by all British households that costs around £157.50. BBC Films can also get money to fund films from the private sector by accepting donations or funding from private investors.

I Daniel Blake Trailer  How does the trailer fit into traditional conventions?  The trailer is around 2 minutes long which fits into the traditional conventional length of a film trailer. At the beginning of the trailer it features 3 slides of the production teams and film institutes that worked on the movie. The music that is used in the trailer fits in with the ‘Drama’ genre of the movie. The trailer also shares short clips that create a brief explanation of the plot and narrative of the movie. The target audience for the trailer are for people 16 and over that are interested in British Made films.
