I Daniel Blake Trailer
I Daniel Blake Trailer
How does the trailer fit into traditional conventions?
- The trailer is around 2 minutes long which fits into the traditional conventional length of a film trailer.
- At the beginning of the trailer it features 3 slides of the production teams and film institutes that worked on the movie.
- The music that is used in the trailer fits in with the ‘Drama’ genre of the movie.
- The trailer also shares short clips that create a brief explanation of the plot and narrative of the movie.
The target audience for the trailer are for people 16 and over that are interested in British Made films. The target audience would also mainly be people living in the UK as they can relate to the movie better than anyone else. But how does the producer target this audience? Well the trailer and poster both have a melancholy feel that emphasises that the movie is based on a serious issue in our society which helps to appeal to the target audience which would be mostly mature 16+ year olds.
The trailer doesn't give too much of the film away however it gives enough to establish the character of Daniel Blake and his financial struggles. The dramatic music combined with the constant sharp cuts throughout the trailer create tension and incise the viewer to go out and watch the film in order to find out what happens next.
The film trailer is also in a sense narrated by Daniel Blake which symbolises that he is the lead in the story as each scene is focused on him. The fact that he narrates the trailer could also mean that in the movie he will be narrating his story to the viewer and through the film the audience can see what he has to go through and many other people in Britain.
Trailer is not part of the brief - focus on the two different posters and DVD cover
